Learn about the Pattern as it applies
to everyone
Explore how you created your Pattern
and how you used it in earlier years to help you manage your life
Apply what you have learned about the
Pattern and about how you apply it today as a grown-up
Practice ways to revise your pattern to

As I hope you can see in the picture above, text explains things and gives instructions.
There are boxes in which to write responses, perhaps a sentence or two or some key words.
However, once people begin LEAP they soon learn they want to write a lot and so create a
separate notebook in which to write extensive comments. There are several ways for the
readers to do something with what they learn about themselves, including practice applying
what they've learned abut a Pattern in order to revise it in some way.
When I conduct LEAP with individuals, couples, groups, and classes, I make sure
participants know they are expected to spend at least an hour or two between sessions,
preparing for the next one. Many people spend more time than that, and write detailed
notes to themselves and reminders of things they want to talk about! LEAP is an excellent
way to raise topics to be used in personal development or counseling sessions. LEAP is a
good way for individuals or couples to prepare for formal counseling in just a dozen
sessions. It can be used with the 4th Step of a 12-Step program, or as a self-contained
way to increased personal development and self-education. |
